Tokyo’s legendary girl garage trio The 5.6.7.8's, internationally known for their unforgettable appearance in Kill Bill, return with their long-awaited fourth full-length album, celebrating an incredible 40 years of wild rock’n’roll.
The 5.6.7.8'S 40th Anniversary full album, which sold out its initial pre-order run May, is now reissued in a limited edition of 500 copies with a different jacket colour!
The 40th anniversary full-length album from the globally popular Tokyo girl garage trio The 5.6.7.8's is finally complete! Produced by Mick Collins (The Gollys) and others, recorded between Japan and the US, it's packed with vintage sound homage tracks! As the band name suggests, it absorbs blues and soul from the '50s to the '80s, as well as rockabilly and punk, showcasing a new frontier for the band with 10 tracks.
The album includes the previously released singles 'Telstar/Radium Girl' and 'Dororo no Uta/Granada Fuzz', the 2019 Christmas single 'Chopped Onion Boogie', a re-recording of the Oriental secret song 'Ah So', a tribute cover of Sheena & The Rockets' classic 'You May Dream', an unreleased Minneapolis recording of 'Telstar', the collage soul track 'Louisiana Uber Driver Mama' (recorded by Yoshiko during her trip to New Orleans), and MOD Popcorn's 'Smell Smell Smell'. It's a truly diverse collection.
And here we go with more dance floor fillers, with all instruments played by Nasser, except for flute and sax by Simon Currie, who also co-wrote the music, with echoes of the music that has inspired him.
